Life Story of Sallie Reed
Sarah L. (Sallie) Reed was born September 3, 1869 near Dunreath and passed away at Collins hospital in Knoxville October 13, 1963 at the age of 94 years. She was the daughter of John and Ellen Phifer.
On June 5, 1888 she was united in marriage to A. J. Reed.
She became a member of the Methodist church in 1889.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Wilson, Mrs. Josephine Buttrey and Mrs. Hattie Johnson.
She leaves to mourn her passing one brother, John Phifer, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Services were held at the Monroe Methodist church October 15 with the Rev. James Poulsen officiating. Interment was in the Monroe cemetery.
Mrs. Juanita Dockum was soloist with Mrs. Kathryn Lubberden accompanist.
Pallbearers were Earl Phifer, Dale Phifer, Rollie Johnson, Ted Buttrey, Tink Buttrey and Vernon Bundy.
