Services Held
Harold E. Rankin, 85, of Reasnor, a longtime resident of Jasper county and resident of rural Reasnor since 1934, died Saturday afternoon, October 12, 1991, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines after suffering a heart attack.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.
The Rev. Robert Waters, pastor of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church west of Sully, conducted services. Burial was in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Beatrice; two sons, Richard H. and Ron E., both of Reasnor; three daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Bob) Holmes of Newton, Sandy (Mrs. Larry) Keeton of Mansfield, Texas, and Janet (Mrs. Kenny) Funk of Newton; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Francis, and three sisters, Vera Vasey, Verla Clyne and Zelma Carson.
Mr. Rankin, a retired farmer, was a member of the St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church.
The son of Montgomery and Cora Lichenwalter Rankin, he was born January 17, 1906 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He attended rural schools.
He was married to Beatrice Schultz December 22, 1928, at Kellogg.
