Life Story of Richard Postma
Funeral services for Richard Elmer Postma, 75, of Monroe, a longtime resident of Jasper County, were held Thursday at the Monroe Garden Chapel.
The Rev. Warren McFate, pastor of the Monroe United Methodist Church, conducted the services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are his wife, Ione; a son, Hubert of Pella; two daughters, Mrs. Willard (Alice) Kaldenberg of Pella, and Mrs. Ralph (Darlene) Stewart of Monroe; six grandchildren; three brothers, Charlie of Deep River, Clayton of Moline, Ill., and Oren of Newton; and four sisters, Mrs. Iven (Bertha) Woody of Newton, Mrs. Walter (Carrie) Sayre of Newton, Mrs. Ernest (Cecyle) Main of Newton and Mrs. Melvin (Gladys) Rucker of Newton.
He was preceded in death by a son, Harold and a brother, Wilbur.
Mr. Postma was a retired farmer.
The son of William and Caroline Weideman Postma, he was born March 10, 1898, in Jasper County.
He was married to Ione Ryswyk December 30, 1920, in Newton.
Mr. Postma died February 19 at his home.
