Services Held
Funeral services for Agnes Plate were held April 24, 2007, at Prairie City First Reformed Church. Private family burial was held at Waveland Cemetery.
Agnes Plate, age 98, formerly of Prairie City, died Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Pella Hospice Comfort House. Funeral services were Tuesday, April 24, 2007 the Prairie City First Reformed Church. A private family burial was held following the service.
Memorials may be given to Pella Hospice Comfort House or the Prairie City First Reformed Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The daughter of Gerrit and Agnes (Van Rees) Steenhoek, Agnes was born on September 22, 1908, in Leighton, Iowa. On December 18, 1929, Agnes was united in marriage with John Plate at Leighton. John and Agnes spent most of their married life farming near Prairie City. Agnes spent her life as a devoted homemaker. She was a member of the Prairie City First Reformed Church, and was very active in the church’s women’s ministry.
Those left to honor her memory are her children Leona Mae Van Sant and her husband Geurt of Sully, Mary Lou Vande Lune and her husband Marvin of Pella, Robert Lee Plate and his wife Betty of Pella, and Larry Eugene Plate and his wife Patricia of Pella. Those also left to honor her memory are twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters.
