Services held
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 24, 1989, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton for Thelma E. Petted, who died of respiratory arrest on January 21st at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
The daughter of John Michael and Viola George McConeghey, she was born in Monroe on September 9, 1914 and was a 1932 graduate of Monroe High School and of Thompson Beauty College in Des Moines, and had been a beautician and cosmetologist in Newton for many years.
She was married to John E. “Jack” Petted on Sept. 25, 1941 at Sacred Heart rectory in Newton.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, James McConeghey, and a sister, Myrtle Neff, she is survived by a son, John Michael of Newton; a daughter, Sandra (Mrs. Kenneth) Caldwell of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren and a great grandson; also a brother, Glenn McConeghey of Monroe; and three sisters, Olive (Mrs. Howard) Finn of Newton, and Faye Kane and Flossie Caldow, both of Chariton.
