Life Story of J. Michmershuizen
Joseph Michmershuizen, 42, of Reasnor, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Tuesday evening in Skiff Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday in Morgan-Loehr Funeral Home.
The Rev. Roy Nelson, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, conducted the services. Burial was in the Hewitt Cemetery near Reasnor.
Mrs. Harold Mason, the soloist, was accompanied by Mrs. Lois Stanton, the organist.
Pallbearers were Patrick McDermott, Clifton Zickel, David Fifer, Clifford Farland, Russell Adams and Frank Peon.
Mr. and Mrs. Owen Barr and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schnug were in charge of flowers.
He is survived by his wife, Dollie; a son, E. Carroll Michmershuizen of Newton; two daughters, Sherry and Joni, both at home; a step-son, the Rev. J. L. Walters of Crawford, Tex., a step-daughter, Mrs. J. O. Conaway of Houston, Tex. and a sister, Mrs. Charles McNew of Newton.
Mr. Michmershuizen was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Local 997, UAW, and served in the armed forces during World War II.
Mr. Michmershuizen had been employed on the assembly line at the Maytag Co. for 18 years.
The son of Bert and Ruby Awtry Michmershuizen, he was born October 17, 1925, in Sully, and was educated in Jasper County schools.
He was married to Dollie Purczinsky Walters, June 28, 1947 at Nashua.
