Darrell Dean Danger, Sr.
May 26, 1944 - July 27, 2016

U.S. Veteran Darrell Dean Danger,Sr., age 72, of Newton, Iowa, was born the son of Roy Richard and Ilayton “Bobbie” Denith (King) Danger on May 26, 1944, in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He received his G.E.D. at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa.

Darrell proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. in the Vietnam War from 1965 and until he was honorably discharged in 1971. He lived in California until he moved back to Iowa and worked at Prestressed Concrete in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

On March 30, 1978, Darrell was united in marriage with Mary Ann Luhring in South Dakota. The couple made their home and lived in Ackley. In 1979 Darrell began working at Maytag in Hampton, Iowa, until the plant closed in 1985. The family relocated to Newton to continued working with Maytag and he retired in 2004.

Darrell was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Geneva, Iowa. His favorite pastime was drag racing his Ford Mustang that he took great pride in. Darrell enjoyed spending many hours painting and working on cars. He loved spending time with his family, especially playing video games with his son.

Darrell passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, from complications of C.O.P.D.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Krausman; his parents; and two brothers, Leonard and Kevin Danger.

Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Danger of Newton; four children, Darrell (finance, Lynnette Beam) Danger Jr. of Allison, Raejean White of Newton, Shawn (Jason) Daniels of Ackley, and Marcus Danger of Newton; 16 grandchildren, Ronnie, Jake, E.J., Dean, Cede, Celia, Clint, Meghan, Katie, Mikey, Josie, Samy, Eonn, Adri, Lauren and Jared; seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Jaxon, Grayson, Kaden, Camren, Vada-Snow, and Johnny; one son-in-law, Larry (Jill) Krausman of Grundy Center; two brothers, George Danger of Eldora, and John (Jane) Danger of Alden; and three sisters, Marlys (Russ) Brooks of Morehead, NC, Sharon (Ed) Cunningham of Williamsburg, NC and Susie Clark of MO.

Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 1, 2016, at the Parkersburg United Methodist Church, with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, (319)346-1534, and one hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
