Services Held
Services for Harold Vernon McLucas were held Wednesday at the First Baptist Church. Services were officiated by Rev. Greg Baum. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Harold, 83, passed away at the Knoxville V.A. on Monday, December 27, 1993.
He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 8, 1910, the son of Vernon Ray and Bertha Marie White McLucas.
He attended school in Des Moines graduating from North High School in Des Moines.
On April 9, 1931, Harold was united in marriage to Audrene Jacobs at the Euclid Avenue Methodist Church in Des Moines.
He served his country in active service of the U.S. Marine Corps during W.W.2. He retired, after working 19 years for the Des Moines school board, in June of 1973. He had lived in Des Moines all his life before moving to Monroe in 1972. He was a member of the Monroe First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald, and wife Jan of Fowler, Colorado and Robert and wife Pat of Houston, Texas, a daughter Janet McLucas of Monroe, a sister Lillian Lay of Clearwater, Florida, a niece Karen Rhines of Cedar Rapids, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, ten step grandchildren and fifteen step great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his wife Audrene, parents and a daughter-in-law.
