Life Story of Ralph McDaniel
Ralph McDaniel, CSF, United States Navy (retired) of Doniphan, Mo., passed away Monday, July 29, 1968, at 11 p.m. at the Scott Air Force Base hospital, Belleville, Ill., at the age of 63 years and 20 days.
The son of Uriah and Sarah Kingery McDaniel, he was born July 9, 1905 at Monroe, Iowa. He was a member of the Methodist church and Masonic Lodge, Fairview Chapter No. 194, A.F. & A.M.
He retired from the United States Navy in November 1945, and was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association of the Navy, Branch No. 55, Portland, Ore.
On January 6, 1938, he was united in marriage with Catherine P. Noon, at Knoxville, Iowa, and she survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael B. McDaniel of Osceola, Ark., and one daughter, Mrs. Jean McDaniel Senior, Hood River, Ore., five brothers, Floyd, Viley and Howard, all of Monroe, Sam of Soquel, Calif, and Claude of Newton; four sisters, Mrs. Ethyl Carter of Des Moines, Mrs. Macy Wright of Knoxville, Mrs. Margaret McComas of Monroe and Mrs. Olive Robson of Newton.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at the Monroe Methodist Church on Friday, Aug. 2 with the Rev. James Poulsen officiating.
Mrs. Wayne Lubberden was organist. Casket bearers were Lawrence Wilson, John Van Haalen, Carroll Berkenbosch, Gerald Lancaster, Dale McComas, Bruce Thomason, Marion McDaniel and Ray McDaniel.
Interment was in Silent City Cemetery, Monroe.
