Services Held
Services for Keith McConeghey were held September 13, 1995, at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Rev. Karen Merrill officiated the services. Interment was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Keith passed away Monday, September 11, 1995, at the Clearview Manor in Prairie City at the age of 97.
Keith was born July 16, 1898, in the Tool’s Chapel area east of Monroe, the son of William A. and Lottie Foglesong McConeghey. He was educated in the area rural schools. On May 26, 1922, he was united in marriage to Fay Allen. To this marriage four children were born: Eileen Pille of Longville, Missouri, Charlotte McConeghey of Des Moines; Vickie Herwehe of Des Moines; and Miles McConeghey of Monroe. Fay died February 18, 1971. On December 5, 1971, he was married to Polly Luddington. She preceded him in death in 1980. Also preceding him were his parents, an infant son Kenneth and two sisters Cecile Terpstra and Mabel Van Haaften.
Surviving in addition to his four children are nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers Carl of Knoxville, Paul of Pella and Dale of Monroe; three sisters Ruth Van De Kieft of Des Moines, Helen Gause of Newton and Eva Michels of Ventura, California.
Mr. McConeghey was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and had been a longtime member of the Tool’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He had farmed in the Tool’s chapel area for many years.
