Services Held
Services for Dale McComas of Monroe were held Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at the Monroe Presbyterian Church with burial following at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Dale Norman McComas, age 84 of Monroe, died Friday, July 28, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given to the Monroe Presbyterian Church or the Monroe Emergency Unit.

The son of Lafay and Margaret (McDaniel) McComas, Dale was born on May 16, 1922, in Marion County. Dale attended Monroe High School and graduated in 1939. On April 13, 1943, Dale was united in marriage with Frances Van Zante in Unionville, Missouri. Dale served in the Army during World War II. Dale was a decorated veteran and was a member of the 96th Infantry Dead Eye Division. After coming home from the war, Dale spent the next thirty-two years working for PAG/Cargil Seed Co. After retiring from the seed company, Dale worked for Jim and Denny Gardner and their farming operation. Dale also spent time working for Van Zante hardware. Survivors are his wife of over 63 years Frances, and his children: Gary McComas and his wife Ellen of Pleasant Hill, Deb Raber and her husband Larry of Grimes, and Donna Illingworth of Newton. Those also left to honor his memory are his seven grandchildren: Mandi and Jennifer Cowman, Ryan Illingworth, Britney (Andy) Engbers, Callie, Natalie, and Casey McComas, and one great-grandson, Blake Illingworth.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
