Services Held
Nola B. Kain May, 100, of Friendship Manor in Grinnell and a former resident of the Jasper County area, died Sunday, February 14, 1993, at the manor.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The Rev. Lon L. Lewis, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Grinnell, conducted services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Survivors are two daughters Maxine Dickerson of Bartlesville, Okla., and Anna Belle Barnes of Grinnell; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.
Mrs. May, a former Pleasant Hill teacher, was a member of the Eastern Star and a former member of the First Baptist Church.
She managed and worked on the family farms in the Monroe, Kellogg and Gilman areas, and enjoyed needlework.
The daughter of Aaron Thomas and Mary Vane Worth Kain, she was born October 9, 1892, in Monroe, attended Pleasant Hill community school and received her teaching certificate from Central College in Pella.
She was married to William Jackson May February 14, 1912, at the home of her parents.
Mrs. May moved to Grinnell in 1970 and to Friendship Manor in May 1992.
