Life Story of Mrs. Virgil (Delta) Martin Mrs. Virgil P.
Mrs. Virgil P. (Delta E.) Martin, 67, of Monroe, a resident of the Monroe community since 1946 and former resident of Newton, died Thursday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the United Presbyterian church in Newton. The Rev. W. W. Johnson, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. George Cottay, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church in Monroe conducted the services. Burial was in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society will be accepted.
Survivors are her husband; a son, Timothy of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Andrews (Alice) Ayers, Jr. of Elmira, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Orville Coffelt of Leon and S. G. Coffelt of Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and a daughter, both in infancy.
Mrs. Martin was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Monroe, Jasper County Cancer Board and the Skiff Hospital Auxiliary.
The daughter of Emmett J. and Clara Lane Coffelt, she was born Nov. 10, 1907 at Evergreen Community at Lamoni.
She was married Nov. 13, 1927, at Bethany, Mo.
