Services Held
Services for Harlan E. Marshall were held Friday, January 20, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Burial was in Dunreath Cemetery.
Harlan E. Marshall, age 74 of Monroe, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at his home.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Hospice of Pella. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of Chester & Gladys (Clevenger) Marshall, Harlan was born on August 5, 1931, in Monroe. On January 22, 1950, he was united in marriage to Delores Phifer in Monroe. Harlan farmed in the area and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Harlan also had a great love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 55 years, Delores; three sons, Keith Marshall and his wife Diane of Indianola, Kevin Marshall and his wife Deana of Monroe and Danny Marshall also of Monroe. Five grandchildren, Greg Marshall, Andy Marshall, Leslie Marshall, Jason Palmer and Shawn Palmer as well as a sister, Mary Stravers of Monroe survive him.
Preceding Harlan in death were his parents and a brother, Larry Marshall.

Monroe – Harlan E. Marshall, 74, of Monroe died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at his home.
A funeral service will be Friday at the First Baptist Church in Monroe at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Dunreath Cemetery. Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe is handling arrangements.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at the church. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church or Hospice of Pella. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of Chester and Gladys (Clevenger) Marshall, he was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Monroe. On Jan. 22, 1950, he married Delores Phifer in Monroe. He farmed in the area and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Keith (Diane) Marshall of Indianola, Kevin (Deana) Marshall of Monroe and Danny Marshall, also of Monroe; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Stravers of Monroe.
