Services for Jonathon “Jake” Manning were held Saturday, June 23, 2001, at the Monroe Presbyterian Church in Monroe with the Rev. Bill Lemosey, officiating. Burial was in the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
Jonathan “Jake” Manning, age 16, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at his home from a self inflicted gun shot wound.
Jonathon Frederick Manning was born December 22, 1984, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Jerry and Susan (Parker) Manning. He moved to Monroe with his family in 1989. Jake had just completed his sophomore year at PCM High School. Jake was active in soccer and had been on the football team his freshman year. He also enjoyed his music and working on the computer.
Jake is survived by his parents at home, a brother, Jerry C. Manning, his wife Anna and their son Caden of Newton, Iowa; a sister, Patricia Manning of Monroe and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
