Services Held
Services were held for Edna C. (Mrs. Max) Mahon, 90, Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Reese Chapel in Newton. Rev. Emmanuel Dass officiated. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery. Edna passed away March 14, 1999, at the U.S.A. Health Care Cemetery in Newton.
Edna was born August 17, 1908, in Newton to James C. and Jennie Thompson Schermerhorn. She attended Newton Schools. She married Max Mahon September 1, 1928, in Des Moines. Edna lived her whole life in Newton. She was a homemaker. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and White Shrine.
Survivors are her husband, Max of Newton, daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Marvin Simpson of Newton and Karen and Dwight Neff of Monroe; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Edgar Schermerhorn.
Memorials to the First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association will be accepted.
