The daughter of William F. Shoop and Mary Helena (Noe) Shoop. Edith was born on July 14, 1919, in Novinger, Adair County, Missouri. She was her father's and grandmother's faithful helper in caring for four younger siblings after her mother's death at a very young age. She was not able to finish school because of this. On September 5, 1937, she was united in marriage to Marvin L. Dixon who was a farmer near Green City, Missouri. Edith worked hard to care for her family and other relatives. In 1946, the family moved to Knoxville, Iowa and in 1955 to Monroe. Edith not only cared for her family but also worked as a cook/waitress at Washer City Café in Newton, Duncan's and Hattie's in Monroe. Edith's joy was in her family, especially her grandchildren and her neighbors, including five wonderful neighbors, Marlene, Jacki, Cindy, Angie, Kristy and Liz. She was such a caring person and had many friends, especially from congregate meals, Yuma, Arizona and at the Full Gospel Bible Camp in Florida.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Janice and Jerry Kloostra of Jackson, Michigan and Dale and Kristy Dixon of Monroe; a daughter-in-law, Fay (Bogg) Dixon of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Lewis (Ema Lea) Shoop of Yuma, Arizona and a brother-in-law, Vernon and Sue Dixon in Dixon, Illinois. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Pam and Jim Jilbert, Deb and Larry Meltzer, Lisa Dixon, Dana and Brent Van Roekel, Darrin and Loy Dixon, Dani and Randy Smid, Shane States and Stacy Schmidt; 14 great grandchildren, Mitch and Lyndsey Clelland, Brooke and Hannah Meltzer, Drake, Drew, Derek Van Roekel, Alexandra Dixon, Zach, Ava, Henry, and Cael Smid and Lindy States Henry and Haley States; and four great great grandchildren.
