WILLARD T. PARSONS
ARE HELD SUNDAYWillard T. Parsons, age 70, of 1234 Summer St. passed away late Thursday night in a local hospital.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Wm. Welsh, were held Sunday afternoon in the James funeral home. Burial was in "Our Silent City" cemetery in Kellogg with Masonic graveside services conducted by the Kellogg Masonic lodge.
Flowerbearers were Mrs. Lee Bullock and Mrs. Floid Hatcher. Pallbearers were Ralph Wentzel, Ross Brannian, Harry Eisele, Harry Ritter, Jr., Lee Bullock and Benny Baustian.
Mr. Parsons was born Sept. 26, 1877 at Elrod, Ind., and came to Jasper county when eight years old and settled with his parents in the Kellogg area. He attended the Kellogg grade schools.
After growing to manhood he married Maggie Buck. He farmed in the Kellogg area for many years and later moved to Grinnell.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Elmer Starrett, Newton; a grandson, John Starrett of Newton, who is serving with the Navy on the West Coast. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Frank Hammer, Mrs. T.E. Coon, and Mrs. C.W. Woodward, all of Kellogg. He was preceded in death by another sister, Mrs. Laura Faircloth.
Mr. Parsons was a member of the Elks lodge, Grinnell and the Masonic lodge in Kellogg.
No date has been set for the funeral, but it will be held at the James funeral home in Grinnell. Burial will be in Our Silent City cemetery at Kellogg.
