July 22, 1927 - June 17, 2016

Marcella J. Smith, age 88 of Prairie City, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery south of Prairie City. Visitation will be held Monday Evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Memorials may be directed to family and condolences left for at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of George Washington Mohler Sr. and Behula Adams, Marcella was born on July 22, 1927, in Percy, Iowa. Marcella worked at Look Magazine for 10 years. She then began helping her husband Bert, as receptionist and book keeper at Smith Trucking. She enjoyed doing word searches, collecting cook books, and watching cooking shows. Marcella loved spending time with her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren and watching them grow. She was a very loving and devoted daughter, sibling, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Beverly Harmison of West Des Moines, Janice (Phil) VanBlaricom of Deltona, Florida, Bernice (Dan) Kain of Prairie City and David (Kathie) Smith of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren: 19 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings Larry Mohler of Knoxville, Patty Douglas of Knoxville, and Sandra DeVore of Albia.

Preceding Marcella in death were parents, her siblings, George Mohler, Jr., Dale Mohler, Colene Mohler and Bob Mohler and her ex-husband, Bert Smith. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 17 June 2016.
