Services Held
Funeral services for Vernon C. Klein, 83, a lifelong resident of the Pella-Monroe area, were held Friday, June 18, 1993, at the Monroe United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Karen Merrill, pastor of the church, conducted services.
Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Monroe Emergency Fund will be accepted.
Mr. Klein died Tuesday, June 15, 1993, at his home in Monroe.
Survivors are his wife, Mary; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Roberta of Hastings, Minnesota; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Carl Wilson of Monroe and Janie and Arlie VanderHoek of Pella; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Lawrence of Pella and Junior of Monroe.
Mr. Klein was an employee of the Marion County Highway Department from 1941 until his retirement in 1975.
The son of Peter and Laura Nearmyer Klein, he was born February 3, 1910, at Pella
He was married to Mary Turner June 4, 1933, at Unionville, Mo.
