Life Story of Mrs. Jacob Klein
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Jacob Klein June 12 at the Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.
The Rev. Wayne M. Hall officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Mrs. Jacob Klein, the former Nellie Van Rheenen, was born July 29, 1895, north of Pella in the Bethel neighborhood.
The daughter of William and Elizabeth Bogaards Van Rheenen, she attended grade school in the Bethel school and later the Central Normal School in Pella. She taught school in the Otley and Monroe vicinities until the time of her marriage.
She was united in marriage with Jacob Klein December 28, 1916, at Pella. Mr. and Mrs. Klein farmed in the prairie City and Monroe areas until moving to Pella in 1959.
Jake passed away February 4, 1970, and Nellie continued to reside in Pella and has been cared for at the Pella Community Nursing Home since August, 1970.
She passed away there Monday, June 10, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 11 days.
Surviving are three brothers, Sam Van Rheenen of Pella, Fred Van Rheenen of Otis, Ore., and Lawrence Van Rheenen of Indianapolis, Ind.; and three sisters, Mrs. Worp (Minnie) Borgman and Mrs. Diller (Carolyn) Vander Ploeg, both of Pella, and Mrs. Gertrude Boles of Long Beach, Calif.
One of 14 children, she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jake; three brothers, Henry, Abe and John; and four sisters, Mrs. Arie (Josie) Meyers, Mrs. Garret (Lena) Poortinga, Mrs. Case (Mary) Willemsen, and one sister who died in infancy.
Mrs. Klein was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church of Pella.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 12, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.
