Services Held
Services for Mabel Alice Kingrey were held August 25, 1997, at the Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. Elder Bill McDonald performed the services. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. She had passed away at Griffin Nursing Center August 22, 1997.
Daughter of Morris Deitrick and Jennie Van Gorp, Mabel was born August 12, 1905, in Dunreath, Iowa.
She married Fred Kingrey on December 31, 1921, in Knoxville. To this union five children were born. Mabel and Fred farmed in the Marion County area before moving to Knoxville in 1951. They moved to Pershing in 1953 and lived there until moving to Knoxville in 1989.
Mabel worked for over 15 years at Collins Hospital as a cook. She joined the Later Day Saint Church at an early age and played the piano for services at the Dunreath Church.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband in 1989, her parents, three brothers, Morris, Ray and Harry, one great-grandson, Shane Frederick Nichols, and two son-in-laws, Don Haug and Bert Breen Jr.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Virginia Kingrey of Monroe; daughter and son-in-law, Fredene and Corky Ravera; daughter and son-in-law, Marcellene and Bob Nichols; daughter, Colleen Haug, all of Knoxville; and Esther Breen of Prairie City; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.
