Services Held
Floyd John Kingery, age 78, died Monday, September 27, 1993 at the Pella Community Hospital.
Services were held Wednesday, September 29, 1993, at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Rev. Karen Merrill, pastor of the church officiated services. Interment was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Floyd John Kingery was born at Dunreath in Marion County, Iowa, December 29, 1914, the son of John Jefferson and Anne Marie Slykhuis Kingery. On October 6, 1937, he was united in marriage to Margaret Marie Banks at Newton. She preceded him in death in 1984. Also preceding him in death were his parents, and four sisters, Opal Snook, Ora Clark, Myrtle Schrader and Della Hughes.
Mr. Kingery is survived by a daughter and son in law Joan and Jim Hewitt, Monroe, two sons, La Verne “Jack” Kingery, West Des Moines and Herbert Wayne Kingery and wife Lila of Lubbock, Texas, two sisters: Fern Kingery, Newton and Florence Kennedy, Prairie City. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Lori and husband Lloyd Storm, Kavin and wife Jodie Kingery, Kenny Kingery, and Kelly and husband Jim Phillips, all of Monroe, and David Kingery and Michael Kingery, Lubbock, Texas, and six great grandchildren: Shawnee, Jamie and Kirk Storm, Colt and Dalton Kingery, and Kasey Kingery.
Mr. Kingery retired from the Maytag Company in 1974 and had also farmed. A member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, he also was a member of the Methodist Men’s organization. A memorial for the church has been established.
