Roland F. Kinart, age 82 of Monroe, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. Memorial services for Mr. Kinart were held on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at the Monroe Presbyterian Church.

The son of Elmer and Mary (Fisher) Kinart, Roland was born on January 3, 1927, in Harbor City, California. Roland proudly served his country as a member of the United States Merchant Marines from 1944 – 1949. While with the Marines, Roland traveled around the world three times. He also proudly served as a member of the United States Air Force from 1950 – 1954. On August 5, 1955 Roland was united in marriage with Beryl Simpson at the Monroe Presbyterian Church.
Roland was known as a “handy-man” as he worked in maintenance most of his life. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, backpacking, muzzleloaders, and he even had a beer can collection. Roland’s most prized hobby though was the railroad industry. He was a railroad enthusiast and even had a large model railroad display in his basement. Roland was a member of the Railcar Club and Volkswagen Club.
Survivors are his wife, Beryl Kinart; daughter, Tina Marie Parks and her husband Frosty; three grandchildren, Blaine Parks and his fiancée Erin; Patrick Parks and his girlfriend Jess; and Sadie Parks; one brother, Leroy Kinart and his wife Roberta; five nieces, two nephews and several nieces and nephews from Beryl’s Family.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Wanda Mockenhaupt and one stepbrother, Bill Noah.
