Life Story of Henry Keuning
Funeral services for Henry Keuning, 62, a longtime resident of the Monroe area, were held Monday, April 6, at the Christian Reformed Church in Prairie City.
The Rev. Theodore Brouwer, minister of the church, officiated. Burial was in Monroe Silent City Cemetery.
Casket bearers were James Birkenholtz, John Birkenholtz, Harold Van Zee, Clarence L. Fisher, Dick DeKoning, and William Vander Hoek.
Surviving are his widow, Tena; two sons, Robert of Monroe and Ray of Honolulu, Hawaii; three grandsons; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Celia) Jaarsma of Pella; and a brother, Ray of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty; a half-sister, Mrs. Rena Stureman; and two half-brothers, Peter and Michael Keuning.
Mr. Keuning was a member of the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church.
The son of Rentje and Dena Prak Keuning, he was born at Detroit, Mich. on August 8, 1907 and came to Pella with his parents in 1912. He attended Battleridge and Pleasant View rural schools near Pella.
He was united in marriage with Tena Van Zomeron December 25, 1929 at Pella.
