Services Held
Services for Coleen Keuning were held Friday, January 25, 2002, at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. Rev. John Poe, pastor, officiated the services. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Prairie City.
Coleen passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Memorials have been suggested for the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Prairie City or the Pleasant Hill Community Club.
Coleen was born September 17, 1925, in Mitchellville, Iowa, the daughter of Elsmer and Leo Wilson Walker. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1943. She was a lifetime resident of the Prairie City area. Coleen married Albert Keuning December 14, 1946, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mrs. Keuning belonged to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Pleasant Hill Community Club, Monroe American Legion Auxiliary, TOPS and Monroe Breakfast Club. She worked at Hy-Vee West in Newton. She enjoyed her family activities and her church.
Coleen is survived by four sons and three daughter-in-laws, Don and Elaine Keuning of Monroe, Dan and Denise Keuning of Prairie City, Max and Patty Keuning of Prairie City, and Mark Keuning of Prairie City; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one brother, Herbert and Joyce Walker of Prairie City; one sister, Shirley and Ernie Funk of Newton; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Walker of Reasnor; and one brother-in-law, Robert Grandia of Pella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Duane Walker.
