Life Story of John A. Kersbergen
John A. Kersbergen, 65, of Newton, died Saturday evening at the University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
The Rev. B. L. Payne, pastor of the Immanuel Baptist Church conducted the services. Burial was in the Mount Zion Cemetery.
Survivors are a brother, Neil, of Wichita, Kan.; and two sisters, Mrs. William (Alice) Kool of Newton and Mrs. James (Alberta) Munson of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Merle, in July, 1975; and a brother, Gerritt.
Mr. Kersbergen, a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, had worked at the Maytag Co. and at trucking.
The son of John and Alice Sneller Kersbergen, he was born July 12, 1912 in Jasper County and was graduated from Pella Community High School.
He was married to Anna Merle Lanphier April 2, 1943, in Missouri.
