Wesley Kerr, Once Resident Here, is Dead
Was Former Register Political Writer.
Omaha, May 26 (Special) – Wesley B. Kerr, 50 years old, magazine writer and retired newspaper man, formerly of Des Moines, fell dead in the yard of his home here shortly after noon today.
Mr. Kerr was born in Monroe, Ia. In 1913 he went to Des Moines as a reporter for The Des Moines News, and later was a member of the editorial staff of The Homestead. For several years he was political writer for The Des Moines Register. In 1924, he came to Omaha as editorial writer for the Omaha Daily News. Two years ago he retired to write fiction and was fast winning recognition as a writer of western stories.
He was former treasurer of the Iowa Press and Authors club, and former secretary-treasurer of the Nebraska Writers’ guild.
His humorous articles have appeared in Life, Judge and Smart Set, and his fiction in Munsey’s magazine and the publications of “The Fiction House.” He is also author of the “Clue Diggers,” a novel reminiscent of his home town and boyhood, and of “The Spirit of Seven Gulches,” fiction lore of the Black Hills in South Dakota.
He is survived by his wife, his mother, Mrs. L. E. Kerr of Asheville, N.C., and by one brother, John F. Kerr, of New York. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending word from relatives.
