Life Story of Pearl Kerr
Mrs. J. W. (Pearl) Kerr, 81, of Castro Valley, Calif., a former Newton resident died Friday at Castro Valley.
Funeral services, to be held in California, are pending.
Survivors are her husband; two brothers, Harold Mateer of Newton and Carroll Mateer of Des Moines; and two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Ruth) Thomas of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Robert (Vera) Mathes of Dallas, Tex.
Mrs. Kerr was a former rural school teacher, employee of Denniston and Partridge Co. and a beauty shop operator in the Newton community.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lowrie Mateer, she was born Aug. 31, 1895, on a farm near Monroe and was a graduate of Newton Community High School.
