Bret Arthur Johnson, 56, of Rochester, Minn., died Saturday, April 16, 2016, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn., surrounded by his family. He was known as “Snookie” by his family and friends.

He was born to Vernie Keith Johnson and the late Joyce Elaine (Snodgrass) Johnson, Dec. 27, 1959, at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, Calif. Bret was raised in Kellogg and attended Kellogg and Newton schools. He was a member of the Four Square Church in Newton, during his youth.

Bret is survived by his parents Vernie Keith Johnson and stepmother Myrna Johnson of Rock Creek; his siblings: Bryan Johnson, Brent Johnson and Belinda (Johnson) Dietrich; his stepsisters, Karen (Steve) Gantz and Marilyn (Bob) Berch; and several nieces and nephews.

Bret was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce; and brother, Bradley Johnson. He will be greatly missed. A private burial will be at a later date at Rock Creek Cemetery in Jasper County. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 20 Apr 2016.
