Kathleen C. "Katie" (Demuth) Weber (1938 - 2016)

INDEPENDENCE – Kathleen C. "Katie" Weber, 77, of Independence, Iowa died Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at her home in Independence.
Katie was born on Oct. 18, 1938 in Jesup, Iowa the daughter of John P. and Irene K. (Friedman) Demuth. She was a 1956 graduate of St. John's Catholic High School in Independence and later received her LPN Nursing Degree from Hawkeye Tech. in Waterloo, Iowa. She was married to James E. Weber in Independence, on Sept. 7, 1957. She was employed as a nurse with Medical Associates in Independence prior to her retirement.

She enjoyed reading, camping, crafting, crocheting, quilting, an occasional trip to the casino and was an avid NASCAR (Carl Edwards) and a Dallas Cowboy fan. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by five children: Julia (Ron) Dlouhy, Newton, Iowa; Lori (John) Mast, Independence, Cindy Weber, Manchester, Iowa, Jeff (Lisa) Weber, Oelwein, Iowa, and Gary Weber, Waterloo, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister; Joan Glaza, Waterloo; and three brothers: John Demuth, Independence, Jerry Demuth, Winthrop, Iowa, and Richard Demuth, Elgin, Ill.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James E. Weber in 1989; three sons: Michael, Steven, and Randy Weber; and two sisters: Mary Corkery and Bernita Hogan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
