Mildred Beal
1918—2016

Mildred H. Beal, 97, of Belvidere, formerly of Nevada, IA, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born December 20, 1918, in Unionville, MO, daughter of James and Opal (Herndon) Ledford. She graduated from Unionville High School. Mildred married Leland J. Redix in Unionville, MO, he preceded her in death. She later married Harry Beal, he also preceded her in death.

Mildred was employed by Iowa State University in Ames, IA. She was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church in Nevada, IA, where she participated in the United Methodist Women. Mildred was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Moose Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. Mildred loved cooking, and baking pies. She was an accomplished gardener, and liked watching the birds.

Mildred is loved and missed by her children, Joyce (Norman) Yarger of Belvidere, Richard (Pegi) Redix of Hot Springs Village, AR, David Redix of Nevada, IA, Pandora (Dan) Holtkamp of Newton, IA,Keith Beal of Newton, IA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands, parents, brother, James Ledford, Jr., and sister, Marybell Bono.

Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008, with Rev. Monty Fox officiating. Memorial visitation from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Cremation rites have taken place. Burial in Nevada Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church of Nevada, IA.
