Memorial Gathering Today
Dorothy Marie Baumann, age 69 of Prairie City, died Saturday, October 27, 2007, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2007, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. There will be no other services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Prairie City Ambulance Fund. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The daughter of Emery and Lillie (Smith) Shera, Dorothy was born on June 14, 1938, in Prairie City, Iowa. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1956. On December 17, 1977, she was united in marriage to Gottlieb “Jay” Baumann.
Survivors are her husband, Jay of Prairie City, a daughter, Deborah Barratt of Cedar Rapids, step children, Fred of New Jersey, Gottlieb Jr. of Des Moines and Becky Joynes of Creston. Also surviving are a granddaughter, Sarah Barratt, step grandchildren, Damon, Brandon, and Matthew; a step great grandson, Donte; as well as three sisters, Maxine (Forrest) Good of North English, Mary Moore of Prairie City and Edna (Lynn) Orrell of Montezuma.
Preceding her in death were her parents and an infant brother, Hubert.
