Services Held
Services for Alta Mae Barnett January 12, 2002, at Pauley Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, with Rev. Roger Crawford and Rev. Robert Perry officiating the services. Interment was in the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan.
She passed away Thursday, January 10, 2002, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa.
Alta Mae Barnett, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Stoffels) Baker, was born on August 14, 1912, in Harlan, Iowa. She attended school in Harlan through the seventh grade when due to the death of her mother, Alta remained home to help raise her younger brothers and sisters.
Alta was united in marriage to Cly “Pete” Barnett on December 8, 1932, in Maryville, Missouri. Five children were born to this union. She was very active in her church and Bible Study groups. Before moving to the Friendship Home in Audubon, Alta lived at her family home in Harlan for over 50 years.
Survivors include her children, Marlene and her husband, Richard Jensen of Audubon; Kitty Lou and her husband, Virgil Jensen of Loveland, Colorado; Rocky Barnett and his wife, Jean of Harlan; Lee Barnett and his wife, Jennifer of Monroe; her daughter–in–law, Dorothy “Dot” Barnett of Oskaloosa; ten grandchildren; thirteen great–grandchildren; her sisters, Dorothy and her husband, Harold Brenzel of Harlan; Helen and her husband, Kenny Nollen of Independence, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son; a grandson; three brothers; and a sister.
