Services Held
Gilbert Bandstra, 68, of Pella, a former resident of Jasper County, died Tuesday, December 9, 1986, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at the Pella Calvary Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. John Gornter, pastor of the church conducted services with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Survivors are his wife, Joyce; four sons, Ronald of Pella, Jerry and James, both of Monroe, and Robert, who is stationed in Germany with the Air Force; two daughters, Karla (Mrs. Scott) Baxter of Newton and Lisa, a sophomore at Dordt College in Sioux Center and 14 grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, William of Pella and Raymond of Otley and two sisters, Tena Westerkamp and Gertrude (Mrs. Henry) Vande Voort, both of New Sharon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul P. Bandstra.
The son of Peter and Anna Stursma Bandstra, he was born Nov. 10, 1918 southeast of Pella.
He was married to Joyce Nikkel Dec. 7, 1950 in Sully.
