Services Held
Funeral services for Yvonna Anderson, 87, of Newton were held Friday, December 1, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Pence–Reese Funeral Home in Newton.
Yvonna passed away Monday, November 27, 2006, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton at the age of 87.
Memorials may be designated in Yvonna’s name to Hospice of Jasper County and may be left at the Pence–Reese Funeral Home.
Yvonna Mae Anderson, the daughter of John William and Della Pearl Hitchler Walker, was born August 29, 1919, in Geddes, South Dakota.
On May 14, 1939, Yvonna was united in marriage with Roy L. Anderson at the Pella Open Bible Church in Pella, Iowa. Yvonna was an Avon Representative in Newton for 46 years. She was a Sunday School teacher for several years. She had read through the Bible many times, learning something new each time. She enjoyed church activities, crossword puzzles and loved her country. She was a charter member of the Newton Foursquare Church and was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton.
Those left to honor Yvonna’s memory include her children, Helen and Jerry Banes of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jack and Chris Anderson of Monroe, IA, Steve and Judy Anderson of Pleasant Hill, IA, Diane and Mark Babcock of Newton, IA, Tom and Susan Anderson of Newton, IA and Sally and Bob Colby of Newton, IA; her fourteen grandchildren; her two step grandchildren; her eighteen great grandchildren; her seven step great grandchildren; her brother, Ivan and Ramah Walker of Newton, IA and her sister, Roberta and Jim Barkley of Andover, KS.
Yvonna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roy, on March 27, 1996; two sons, Billie Lee and Samuel; and her sisters, Odetha Schnathorst, Alise Lawson, LaVera Eaton and Della Moore.
