Services Today
Services for George E. “Gene” Allen, 85, are to be held Thursday, December 4, at 2 p.m. at Walters–Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Gene passed away November 25, 1997, at his home in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Mr. Allen was born December 7, 1911, in Monroe, the son of Clarence and Veva Brown Allen. He married Doris Mohr June 10, 1978, in Gladbrook, Iowa. Gene was a farmer in the Monroe and Prairie City area for many years. He also was an army veteran of World War II. Mr. Allen belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in McAllen, Texas, and belonged to the American Legion Post #37 in McAllen, Texas.
Survivors are his wife, Doris, of Mountain Home, Arkansas; a step son, Ronald Sievers of Brimfield, Illinois; a step daughter, Patricia Wiebensohn of Gladbrook, Iowa; 4 step grandchildren; and 2 step great–grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Louise Wassenaar Allen; and one sister, Carolyn Allen.
