Ruby “Jo” Aalbers, age 70, of Rock Valley, Iowa, formerly of Monroe died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital at Sioux Center, Iowa. Funeral services were Monday at the Pioneer United Methodist Church at Rock Valley. Rev. Jerry Robertson and Rev. Dan Hauge officiated. There was also a Tuesday, March 9, 1999 service at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Rev. Greg Baum officiated there. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Ruby Josephine Murdaugh was born March 25, 1928, at Des Moines, daughter of John and Ruby (Sharp) Murdaugh. She married Norval Reeves on September 27, 1947, at Des Moines. Together they lived in Des Moines. Norval died on May 8, 1962. Jo married Fred Aalbers on August 1, 1964, at Monroe, Iowa. Together they lived in Monroe where Jo owned and operated Aalbers Bookkeeping and Tax Service. Fred died October 22, 1988. Jo moved to Rock Valley to be closer to her son in May of 1994. At Rock Valley, Jo was very active (in the) Rock Valley Senior Citizens Club. She was a member of the Monroe First Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include two sons and their wives, Steven and Vivian Reeves of Darby, Montana, Daniel and Carol Reeves of Rock Valley, Iowa; and six grandchildren.
Jo was preceded in death by her two husbands, Norval Reeves and Fred Aalbers; and one sister, Noverseen Lynch.
