Diane K. Ehler, 67, of rural Kellogg, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2016, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Brian Kleinschrodt of the Kellogg Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell beginning 12:00 p.m. on Sunday and the family will be present from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Memorials may be directed to the Kellogg Christian Church and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.
She was born on March 17, 1948, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Jack Maurice and Rita Heese Sutherland. She was raised on the family farm east of Gilman and graduated from Gilman High School. She received an AA degree from Marshalltown Community College. Following her education she worked for General Telephone Company in Grinnell.

On October 19, 1968, she was united in marriage to Fred Ehler at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple operated a grain and livestock farm north of Kellogg and raised three children. Diane also worked in the Kellogg schools as a substitute secretary and librarian.

She was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church. Diane enjoyed raising flowers and vegetables, baking, and sewing.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Ehler of rural Kellogg; three children, Nancy (Dwane) Brown of New Sharon, Michael (Michele) Ehler of Swisher, and Pam (Kenneth) Moore of Colfax; seven grandchildren, Brittany and Derek Brown, Samantha and Brett Ehler, and Hannah, Ryan and Sierra Moore; one sister, Patricia Pfantz of Grinnell; her twin brother, Dennis Sutherland of Waterloo; and brothers Gary Sutherland of Baxter, David Sutherland of Gilman and Ronald Sutherland of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents. ~ The Grinnell Funeral Home, Grinnell, Iowa 16 Feb 2016.
