David Michael Jones, 48, of Pine, Colo., the son of 1956 Newton High School graduate David M. Jones, died on Sunday, Sept. 22.

David Michael Jones operated the Crystal Lake Resort since 1993. A memorial service will be held at the resort, 29200 Crystal Lake Rd. Pine, Colo., 80470, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.

The decedent's father, David M. Jones, was raised in Newton, attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids and became one of the nation's foremost economists and chairman of a Wall Street firm, Aubrey Langston. He was an expert on the Federal Reserve system and appeared regularly on network television when events surrounding "The Fed" arose. He is also the author of several books on the Fed, including "The Buck Starts Here."

Happy Birthday!

Love you so much and miss you everyday. It is a challenge to find the sunshine and remember the JOY, but I can and I will. I know you want me to. Here is something I found to read to you:

FULL OBITUARY:

David Michael Jones, 48, formerly of Montclair, N. J. and currently a resident of Denver and Pine, Colorado died on Monday, September 23, 2013. He was born December 12, 1964 at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, New Jersey.

He attended Montclair Kimberly Academy and graduated from Newark Academy. He attended Berkshire Academy Prep School in Massachusetts and graduated from Hamilton College in New York State in 1987 with a major in Economics and a minor in Biology. He was active in sports including ice hockey and lacrosse in all schools.

David moved to Denver in 1989 and became a highly successful real estate investor and developer. Subsequently, David became co-owner with his parents and CEO of Crystal Lake Resort (CLR) which he created in Pine, Colorado. CLR hosts special events, a B & B and a fly-fishing club as well as Rivers Run Homeowners Association.

He is survived by his parents, David and Becky Jones, his sister, Jennifer Jones-Ladda, his brother-in-law, Todd Ladda, and his niece, Caitlin Ladda and nephew, Dylan Ladda, his brother, Stephen Warren Jones and his nephew, Joshua Jones and his dog, Drake. He loved fly-fishing, skiing, mountain climbing, ice hockey and biking. We profoundly grieve and are deeply saddened by David's passing and will miss his brilliant intellect, sensitive and caring soul, creativity and loving relationships with his family and friends.
