Daryl Lee Uhlenhopp, age 56 of Prairie City, passed away on Sunday, February, 14, 2016, at his home of a heart attack. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church in Prairie City. Burial will take place at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Church. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Leroy and Wilma (Weber) Uhlenhopp, Daryl was born on December 2, 1959, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and was raised on a farm outside of Parkersburg. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1978. He played football and was on Coach Ed Thomas' first football team.

On July 1, 1988, he was united in marriage to Beth Huisinga at the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington, Iowa.

After Daryl worked various jobs in the agricultural and construction industries, he soon realized the value of continuing his education and went on to receive his two year degree from DMACC in accounting. Daryl worked at Principal Financial for 16 years. He was an active member of the First Reformed Church in Prairie City, where he served as a Deacon and on various other church committees. Daryl took great pride in his landscaping and loved the outdoors. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed attending football games at Kinnick Stadium. His proudest accomplishments were his family and his faith. He enjoyed family vacations, and it was important for him to attend his kids' school and church events.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Beth; three children, Zachary, Michaela and Morgan and a brother, Darwin (Becky) Uhlenhopp.

Preceding Daryl in death were his grandparents, parents an infant sister, Nancy and an infant brother, Daylon. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 14 Feb 2016.
