Marilyn Meredith, 83, of Grinnell, died Wednesday, Apr. 15, 2015, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. A celebration of her life was held Saturday, Apr. 18, at the First Friends Church in Grinnell. Interment was in Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville.
Memorial contributions may be designated to the First Friends Church or to Grinnell Regional Hospice, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.
Marilyn Kay (Graham) Meredith was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Sully, to Ernest Arbor and Jennie Irene (Brand) Graham. She graduated from Lynnville High School in 1949.
On June 30, 1949, she was united in marriage to Ervin Russell Meredith at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Marilyn and Ervin farmed north of Lynnville until moving north of Grinnell in 1961. They moved into Grinnell in 1986, after retiring from the farm. Marilyn held various jobs in the restaurant and retail businesses throughout her life.
Marilyn was a member of the Lynnville Friends Church and later became a member of First Friends Church in Grinnell. Marilyn was very active in the Christian Education Department, where she served as a Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher, and Vacation Bible School teacher.
Those left to honor Marilyn’s memory are four daughters: Shirley (Gary) Milburn of Grinnell, Debbie (Steve) Fath of Goshen, IN, Teresa (Don) Loops of Des Moines, and Christy (Paul) Berkenbosch of Adel; eight grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Graham in 1990; mother, Irene Graham in 2004; husband, Ervin Meredith in 2003; and brother, Norman Graham in 1987.
