Marvin P. Lindsey, 94, of Colfax and Newton, died Aug. 3, 2015.
He was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Missouri, to Fred and Pearl Lindsey. He grew up in the farming country surrounding Des Moines.
Marvin was a can-do person. He mastered many occupations — farming, construction, metal polishing, buffing and plating. He also served in the Navy C.B.S. in World War II. He was a devoted family man, loved the wild country, hunting and fishing, country music, western movies, home cooking and a good political debate.
Marvin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary (Leona); daughter Linda Lou Lindsey; and siblings, Gladys Johnson, Pauline Smaby, Minnie Lindsey, Lorene Gerstenberger, Donna Nystrum, Karen Lindsey, James Lindsey, Fred Lindsey and Wilbur Lindsey.
Survivors include siblings Cary L. Lindsey of Story City, Jon Lindsey of Des Moines, Alvin (Butch) Dinsey of Chariton, and Martha Schumaker of Mt. Pleasant; Marvin’s children Leona (Marlene) Weinstein of Colfax, Marvin J. Lindsey of Murry, Utah and Carey A. Lindsey of Strafford, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
There is no memorial service scheduled. Memorials may be made to the veterans.
