Visitation Service At the Funeral Home Monday, December 28th, 2015 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

William H. “Bill” Wilkening, 83, of Newton died on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at the Newton Health Care Center. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, December 28, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials in Bill’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Bill, the son of Ernest and Mary (Hart) Wilkening, was born on April 6, 1932 in State Center. He lived in Maxwell and attended Maxwell schools. Bill served his country during the Korean War from 1952-1954. On April 29, 1956, Bill was united in marriage with Beverly Propst in Marshalltown. They made their home in Newton, where Bill began his 35 year career at the Maytag Company. He also owned and operated Bill’s Trash since 1978. Bill was a member of the VFW and the UAW Local 997. Bill enjoyed going to air shows and old tractors.

Those left to honor Bill’s memory are his wife, Beverly of Newton; two sons, David Wilkening of Newton and Gary (Mary) Wilkening of Monroe; three grandchildren, Nicole (Tracy) Mendenhall, Jared (Crystal) Wilkening, and Ryan Wilkening; four great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Elaine Cory, Ernie Wilkening, Lanny Wilkening, and Larry Wilkening.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob Wilkening. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa
