Charles the son of Charles Phillip and Bertha Elizabeth (Meyers) Lingelbach, was born on January 4, 1937 in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Newburg High School in Newburg, Oregon and then served his country in the Army National Guard from 1955-1964. Charles was a blessed with four children; Tom, Charlotte, Kathy, and Chris and for many years was a loving and dedicated single father. He worked as a utility man for the dry dock at the Port of Portland. Charles enjoyed bowling and his children and grandchildren remember many fun nights at the bowling alley.

In 2003, Charles moved from Oregon to Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, going on drives in his Volkswagen, and watching westerns and sports on TV. Most of all though his family was his priority, he was his kids’ number one fan and loved the time spent with his grandchildren.

Those left to celebrate Charles’ life are his children, Tom (Norma) Lingelbach of Newburg, Oregon, Charlotte (Garry) Young of Newton, Kathy (Kevin) Hegwood of Newton, and Chris (Jeremy) Behun of Monroe; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his two sisters, Phyllis Robertson of Oregon and Carolynne Monroe of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Vivian Flye.

If you would like to share your thoughts and memories, we will deliver your message to the family. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 5 Dec 2015.
