Lyle Clevenger, Former Monroe Resident, Dies

MONROE - Lyle Clevenger, 55, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, a former resident of Monroe, died Thursday at the Cape Elizabeth Hospital.

Memorial services will be held in the near future in Monroe.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret; two sons, David and John; two daughters, Sarah and Mary; his father, Ulrie Clevenger of Prairie City; a brother, Lloyd, of Monroe; and a sister, Mrs. James Vriezelaar of Waverly.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Maxine Vander Ploeg.

Mr. Clevenger attended the Baptist Church while residing in Monroe.

The son of Ulrie and Mabel LeGrand Clevenger, he was born Nov. 8, 1922 at Monroe. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 24 Mar 1978.

Lyle Clevenger Rites Thursday Monroe Church

MONROE - Funeral services for Lyle Clevenger, 55, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, a former resident of Monroe, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Monroe.

The Rev. Jerry Wolcott, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Eldon Pals, pastor of the Monroe Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Friends may call at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home from noon Wednesday until Noon Thursday. The casket will not be opened at the church.

Mr. Clevenger, a Army Air Corps Veteran of World war II, was a graduate of Monroe Community High School and Iowa State University in Ames and received his master's degree from Harvard Business School at Cambridge, Mass.

He was vice president of International Telephone and Telegraph and general manager of ITT-Vulcan of Kelzar Falls, Maine.

He died Thursday at the Cape Elizabeth Hospital. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 28 Mar 1978.
