Mart K Bowie, 82 310 Country Club Acres, longtime resident of Jasper County, died Monday at the Jasper County Home.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Chapel and burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery. Mr. Bowie will lie in state after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Surviving are his widow, Arvilla; four sons, Donald and Howard, both of Newton, Norman, Mitchellville, and Leland, Denver, CO; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Rosslyn) Stewart, Mrs. Ella Breckenridge and Mrs. Lea (Mary) Thurman, all of Newton; 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, four brothers and a sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Bowie was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Church. A Maytag Co. molder before his retirement in 1951, he was born February 2, 1886 in Eldon the son of Amos and Ella Phillips Bowie. He moved to Prairie City as a child, attending Prairie City schools. Later he moved to Newton. He was married to Arvilla Hummel September 25, 1910 in Newton.
