William C. Fuerst Dies; Services Thursday Morning

Funeral services for William Charles Fuerst, 79, of 902 S. 6th Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1953, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Johnson-Reese Chapel.

Mr. Fuerst died Saturday morning at his home.

The Rev. H. Eugene Cedarholm, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, will conduct Services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon Wednesday. The Casket will not be opened at any time.

A memorial to the First Lutheran Church has been established in Mr. Fuerst's name. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church.

Survivors are a son, B. William Fuerst of Villa Park, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Dorothy) Ray of Okeechobee, Fla., six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, George of Napa, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Kluender of Norfolk, Neb., and Mrs. Lynn (Ruby) McReynolds of Scotts Bluff, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister.

Mr. Fuerst was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Tlephone Pioneers of America.

Involved in telephone work his entire working life, he was a construction superintendent since 1940.

The son of William and Anna Rolfe Fuerst, he was born June 26, 1898 in Battle Creek, Neb., attended parochial school in Battle Creek and Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.

He resided in Bayard and Scotts Bluff, Neb., before moving to Greene, Iowa in 1940.

He was married to Beulah P. Coenig July 11, 1922 at Torrington, Wyo. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 21 Mar 1978.
