Shirley Koontz Dies Saturday; Services Today
Mrs. Earl E. (Shirley Mae) Koontz, 50 of 708 E. 6th St. N., a resident of Newton for 30 years, died Saturday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m today at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The Rev. Joseph B. Denning, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Edward Susic will conduct services.
Graveside rites will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Effingham, Ill.
Wake services were conducted Sunday evening at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home until 6 p.m. today and at the church from then until time of services.
Survivors are her husband; a son, Richard; a daughter, Cindy; a granddaughter, Nicole Marie; a brother, Sherman Hoffman of Champaign, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Forrest (Zudora) Davidson, of Paris, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pearl.
Mrs. Koontz was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The daughter of Fred and Florence Hoffman, she was born June 3, 1927 at Effingham, Ill., and was a graduate of Effingham High School.
She was married June 30, 1945 at Effingham, Ill. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 6 Mar 1978.
