Lydia P. Smith Dies Saturday; Services Today

Mrs. Charles (Lydia P.) Smith, 79, of the Jasper County Care Facility, a longtime resident of Jasper County, died Saturday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held today at the Toland-Wallace funeral Home.

The Rev. Morris Hay, pastor of the Hickory Grove Church, conducted services. Burial was in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Survivors are three sons, Leslie Knittle of Cleveland, Ohio; Willie Smith of Linwood, Wash., and Christy Smith of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Marie Fowler of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Ruby) Geddling of Des Moines; and three brothers, John Knittle of Wythe, Wis., Herschel Flugstad of Webster City; and Earl Mead of Pueblo, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother.

The daughter of Francis H. and Alice Knittle, she was born June 26, 1898. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 27 Feb 1978.
